Applied Weather Associates specializes in Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) development, precipitation analysis, and meteorological parameter analyses for industries with critical infrastructure requirements such as dams, mines/tailings storage facilities, and nuclear sites.  We provide accurate, high-resolution meteorological analysis and data for use in PMP development, hydrologic model calibration and validation, meteorological time series input for hydrological modeling, probability of meteorological parameters, and forensic meteorological investigations.

Latest News:

  • AWA is working on two complex PMP and Climate Change studies in Western and Eastern Canada, one over a large basin extending from the crest of the Coastal Range to interior British Columbia and covering the interior of New Foundland/Labrador.  Both present exciting and new challenges for PMP development, snowmelt parameters and climate change affects.
  • AWA presented a short course to the Tailings Center on meteorological and climatological analyses for use in TSF water management.  This was part of a larger collaborative effort between Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University, and the University of Arizona.  AWA's presentation can be viewed here.
  • AWA teamed with GeoSystems Analysis to present a short course on Precipitation and Stormwater Management for Mine Closure: Analysis and Design during the Mine Water Solutions 2022 conference in Vancouver, BC.  Check out a recording the short course here.
